England won the first ODI against Pakistan in the most comprehensive of manners by 8 wickets in Cardiff. Their bowlers got wickets and their top-order sealed the game within 20-odd overs. It was a classic case of a team dominating their opposition right from the start and never allowing them to make a comeback into the game. Heading into the second game, the new-look England team would want more of the same.
As per reports in Cricbuzz, they would go in with the same eleven with a bid to seal the deal in the second ODI. They did not rotate against Sri Lanka and with ICC World Cup Super League points insight, will not in this game as well against Pakistan. In this article, we take a look at England’s predicted XI for the second ODI.
England vs Pakistan, 2nd ODI: England’s Predicted XI
Philip Salt

Salt made his ODI debut for England in the opening game against Pakistan. He made seven and was unlucky to miss out on a big score. He will get another opportunity and the attacking opening batsman will look to make the most of this opportunity.

Dawid Malan

Malan scored an unbeaten 68 and stitched an unbeaten 120-run stand with Zak Crawley to help England win the game. In the absence of senior players, Malan stepped up big time and played a match-winning innings for his team. He will continue to open the batting throughout the series.
Zak Crawley

Playing his first ODI for England, Crawley scored a fifty on debut and did not look in any trouble. He held his nerve and stitched a matchwinning partnership with Malan. He has a good opportunity in the rest of the series to score big runs for his side.
James Vince
Vince is an opener but was slotted to bat in the first game. He was not required with the bat however since the top-order did the job for the team. The management can change the batting positions within the innings and can look to promote Vince up the order in the second ODI.
Ben Stokes
Stokes bowled two overs in the first game and led his first game as England captain in Cardiff. He did an excellent job with rotating the bowlers. He will look to do the same thing in the second ODI and probably look to spend some time out with the bat as well. This will be Stokes’ 100th ODI in England colors.
John Simpson
Simpson too made his debut for England in the first ODI. He is a wicketkeeper batsman. He did not get his chance with the bat but took two catches in the first ODI those of Mohammad Rizwan and Faheem Ashraf. He will hope to get his chance with the bat in the second ODI.
Lewis Gregory
Gregory was the third England player to make his ODI in the first game. He bowled four overs and took a wicket that of Mohammad Rizwan. All the England bowlers including Gregory got pace and bounce from the pitch and made life difficult for the opposition batsmen.
Craig Overton

Overton played his second ODI for England in the first game. He made good use of his height to extract pace and bounce off the Cardiff wicket. He took 2/23 in his spell and bowled with pace. It was a pacy and fiery spell from him like it was from all the other England bowlers.
Brydon Carse

Carse was the fourth player to make his England ODI debut in the first game. He bowled a spell off 31 runs in seven overs and looked good like the others. While Mahmood and Overton picked up the wickets, Carde kept it tight from one end.
Saqib Mahmood

Mahmood delivered a match-winning performance for England in the first game. He took 4/42 and broke the backbone of the Pakistan batting lineup. One of his four wickets was the opposition skipper Babar Azam for a duck.
Matthew Parkinson

Parkinson completes England’s playing XI that they would look to field in the second ODI against Pakistan. He bowled a spell of 2/28 in the first ODI.
