The third T20I between England and Sri Lanka will be played in Southampton on Saturday. England have already won the series having won the first two games. The onus will be on the Lankan players to win the game and end the series on a high. Meanwhile, the weather forecast for the final game does not seem to be a good one with ran hovering around.

England have fielded their strongest combinations in both the games with a few of their key players unavailable. Their approach in this final T20I will remain the same as well. In this article, we predict England’s playing XI for the third T20I.

Jason Roy

Roy scored 36 in the first game and 17 in the second. The attacking English opener will look to get some more runs under his belt in the final T20I. Roy has established himself as one of the regular players in England’s while-ball squads and scores at a quick rate as well.

Jonny Bairstow

The wicket-keeper batsman missed the first T20Iwith an injury. He played the second game and scored a duck. With Jos Buttler unavailable from the remaining series, Bairstow will be the first-choice keeper for the side. He also gets another opportunity to make up for his low score in the first game.

Dawid Malan

The southpaw is currently the top-ranked batsman in the world. Having made his T20I debut in 2017, Malan has quickly become one of the batting mainstays of England in the shortest format of the game. He is also amongst the quickest to get to 1000 T20I runs. He will slot in at number three.

Eoin Morgan

England white-ball skipper Eoin Morgan will slot in at number four. The KKR skipper scored 11 of nine balls in the second T20I. Morgan has been short of runs in recent times. His previous T20I scores this year are 28,4, 1, and 11. He would like to make a substantial contribution in the final game.

Liam Livingstone

Livingstone scored an unbeaten 29 in the second T20I against the Lankans. he is just four games old in T20I cricket but has played a lot of franchise T20 cricket all around the world. He should hold onto his place in the playing Xi for the final game.

Sam Billings

Another England wicketkeeper-batsman with high regard is Sam Billings. He scored 24 off 29 balls in the second T20I. Billings has been in and out of the England T20I team and has not made the most of his chances. He should get one more in the final T20I against Sri Lanka to have a say about his batting talent.

Sam Curran

Curran has been one of the finds in England cricket in recent times. He scored a 95 against India recently to give a glimpse of his batting prowess. He scored an unbeaten 16 and was with Billings at the other end to help his side win the second T20I. With the ball, he also took a wicket. He will bat at number seven for the side.

Chris Jordan

Jordan is England’s designated death bowler. He does the job almost every time the captain gives him the ball. He has taken a couple of wickets in the first two games.. He will look for a good performance in the final game.

Mark Wood

Wood has taken three wickets so far in the series with two of them coming in the last game. Wood bowls with pace and uses his height to bowl accurate bouncers. He will continue to torment the bowlers in the last game as well.

David Willey

Willey will swing the new ball and the overhead conditions in Southampton that are predicted for the contest will work to his advantage. He hits the ball long whenever he gets his chance with the bat.

Adil Rashid

Rashid completes England’s predicted playing XI for the final T20I. He is the highest wicket-taker in the series with four wickets so far. He took two wickets each in the first two games as he kept the Lankan batsmen guessing. He should bag a few more wickets in the last T20I.
