England Women Announce 16-Member Squad For T20I Series Against Australia; Danielle Gibson Receives Maiden Call Up

The England women’s national cricket team have announced their 15-member squad for the three-match T20I series against the Australian women’s national cricket team. Batting all-rounder Heather Knight will lead the side in the series, which will be played between July 1 and 8.
Uncapped all-rounder Danielle Gibson was included in the England T20 squad for the Women’s Ashes. Gibson was part of the 15-member Test squad but didn’t make it into the playing XI. Issy Wong returned to national cricket after missing the one-off Test match against Australia.

Danielle Gibson Is In Great Form – Jon Lewis
England’s head coach Jon Lewis mentioned Danielle Gibson as a player with the potential to make a significant impact in the upcoming series.
“A number of those selected have performed exceptionally well for England A in their short format fixtures and it’s great to have them back with us,” Jon Lewis said.

“Danielle Gibson is selected for the first time in our T20I squad, she is in great form at regional level and has the potential to impact the game whenever she is called upon.
Issy Wong returns to the T20 squad after her success in the Women’s Premier League with Mumbai Indians, it will be exciting to see how she has progressed and grown from those experiences,” he added.

Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Freya Davies, Charlie Dean, Sarah Glenn, and Lauren Winfield-Hill have been named in the T20I squad. Issy Wong has earned a call-up after missing out on the World Cup selection. Danielle Gibson has been rewarded due to her impressive performances.
Lauren Filer, who impressed with her bowling in the Test match at Trent Bridge, has been rested for the series. Tammy Beaumont, who scored a double century in the Test, has once again been overlooked by the selectors. Beaumont played her last T20 match against Australia in January 2022.
