The second edition of Women’s Premier League 2024 is set to take place this year. BCCI has revealed that the WPL 2024 final will take place from March 17 in India. However, some England Women are under stress as the WPL 2024 final has a close clash with their forthcoming T20I series in New Zealand. Hence, they might lose their WPL 2024 contracts.

England Women are set to tour New Zealand in March 2024 for a five-match T20I series. The T20I series begins on March 19 with the opening game in Dunedin, New Zealand. Hence, it will be almost impossible for England Women players to feature in the opening game and reach New Zealand in time.

Moreover, England Women players who stay in India till the WPL 2024 final will not be considered by the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) for the New Zealand T20Is. Hence, they will miss out on the selection. ECB is going to reveal the England Women’s squad for the New Zealand T20I series next week.

7 England Women Players Part of WPL 2024

A total of 7 England Women players will participate in WPL 2024. They are Alice Capsey, Issy Wong, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Kate Cross, Heather Knight, Sophie Ecclestone, and Danni Wyatt. Moreover, England Women’s coach Jon Lewis is the coach of the UP Warriorz Team.

Alice Capsey is part of Delhi Capitals, Kate Cross and Heather Knight are playing in Royal Challengers Bangalore, Issy Wong and Nat Sciver-Brunt are in Mumbai Indians, and Sophie Ecclestone and Danni Wyatt are part of UP Warriorz.

Hence, the England Women players are in danger of missing either the New Zealand T20I series or WPL 2024 contracts. Heather Knight has made herself available for the New Zealand tour. Lauren Bell canceled her plans to play in WPL 2024. Notably, England Women players get equal pay to that of men players by ECB.
