England leg break bowler Matt Parkinson came up with an excellent delivery which emulated the spin legend Shane Warne’s ball of the century in the County Championship 2021. He dismissed the skipper of the Northamptonshire side Adam Rossington who was batting really well when all the other batsmen failed to get going and it was a gem of a delivery.

Matt Parkinson has been part of the England test contingent against Sri Lanka and has bowled five overs during the practice game. He made his T20 debut two years back and has taken five wickets in the two games he played. He made his ODI debut last year but he couldn’t pick up any wickets. The 24-year-old has shown a lot of promise and is well on the way to a bright future.

Matt Parkinson Helps Lancashire Extend Lead

Matt Parkinson flighted the delivery outside the leg stump and it squared up the batsman completely turning a lot to hit the off stump. The batsman had no clue of what he was up to and the drift was the key factor in the delivery. It made sure Rossington did not close down the gap heavily and Northampton eventually fell for 177 on the board.

Matt Parkinson finished with figures of 20-3-49-3 in the first innings and helped Lancashire post a huge lead over Northamptonshire. Adam Rossington’s wicket was very important in the circumstances and it was a well-deserved wicket for Parkinson who was very impressive on the day with both bat and ball. Earlier, Parkinson played important innings down the order at no.11 with a 21 not out.

Shane Warne’s Ball Of The Century

Shane Warne produced the ball of the century in 1993 Ashes against the England side on day two and Mike Gatting who was on the receiving end was stunned by the delivery. Warne looped it outside the leg stump and it turned viciously to hit the off-stump for the right-hander. The amount of spin it had was unbelievable and it was popularly remembered as the ball of the century.
