The drama between Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj during the second Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between India and Australia has reached a boiling point, and Harbhajan Singh is hoping the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) sanctions finally close the chapter.
The fiery exchange between the Australian batter and Indian pacer in the Day-Night Test at Adelaide led to both players being slapped with penalties by the International Cricket Council (ICC), with Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head both being handed a demerit point.

Both players were involved in a heated exchange that saw Siraj fined 20% of his match fee for using strong language and gestures towards Head on Day 2 of the recent pink-ball Test, which Australia won by 10 wickets against India on Day 3 in the first session at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide.

As both India and Australia gear up for the crucial third Test at The Gabba, Brisbane, starting on December 14, the former Indian spinner and commentator Harbhajan Singh feels it's time to move on from the Siraj-Head saga since the ICC already punished them.
However, the cricket pundit believes that the ICC’s punishments are a bit harsh because these things are part of the heat of the game. Both players have reportedly patched things up, and Harbhajan urged everyone to stop fueling the fire to the controversy and shift the attention back to the Test series.
I think ICC is a bit too strict on players: Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports: “Well, I think ICC is a bit too strict on players. These things happen in the ground. Obviously, forget what has happened and move forward. The players have patched up and talked to each other. Anyways, ICC being ICC has sanctioned the players. Let's put that aside now, and let's move forward, which is obviously Brisbane. Let's focus on cricket rather than all these controversies. Enough is enough.”
Meanwhile, former Indian spinner Piyush Chawla has joined Harbhajan Singh in calling for an end to the Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj controversy. Chawla admitted that things could get heated again in Brisbane but emphasized that the issue should be left behind in Adelaide.

The commentator also pointed out that it's hard to say who was right or wrong in the incident, but he believes that there's no need to take the feud to the upcoming Test matches of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Chawla feels tension may rise again during the Brisbane Test but stressed that the feud between Head and Siraj should be put to rest now.
Piyush Chawla said on the same channel, “You can't really say who was wrong or who was right here. What I feel is that this should be the end of this thing right now. There's no one on this thing to the next match or the 4th test match, and just what I feel personally is that things will definitely get heated from the next test match again, but what incident happened here should leave it here in Adelaide.”
