Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has become the subject of a viral social media post claiming that the Indian cricketer targeted cricketer-turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar over his recent criticism. However, a fact-check revealed that the post came from a fake fan account and was not shared by the 15-year-old batter.
Manjrekar criticized the disciplinary standards of young Indian cricketers on X. Rajasthan Royals teammates Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal have faced scrutiny over separate on-field incidents against Sri Lankan players, sparking debate over player conduct and calls for stricter action from the ICC and BCCI.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Fake Account Targets Sanjay Manjrekar Over Criticism
A social media account using Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s name and a blue verification badge responded to Sanjay Manjrekar’s criticism of player discipline. However, the profile bio clearly states that it is a fan page and is not affiliated with or managed by Sooryavanshi.

Manjrekar had criticised the ICC and BCCI after separate incidents involving Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal. He argued that lenient punishment could encourage young players to repeat such behaviour.
“Dear @icc & @bcci Vaibhav for Ind A recently & now Jaiswal… if you keep letting them get away with such behaviour, you train them to repeat such behaviour. It’s not good for the sport & crucially their own future too,” Manjrekar wrote.

Sanjay Manjrekar’s comments came after Jaiswal was involved in a physical confrontation with Sri Lanka pacer Asitha Fernando during Day 1 of the second Test in Colombo. Jaiswal turned towards Fernando after his dismissal, and their helmets made contact before teammates separated them.
The ICC fined both players 25% of their match fees and gave them 1 demerit point for improper physical contact under Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct. Jaiswal later defended his actions while responding to a Cricbuzz video featuring Harsha Bhogle.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Faced Criticism After India A Incident
Sooryavanshi faced criticism after a heated incident with Sri Lanka A players during a tri-series match in Dambulla in June. India A lost the Super Over after failing to chase 17 runs, scoring only 9. Sooryavanshi then confronted Sri Lanka A player Vishen Halambage before the situation escalated.
The teenager appeared to push Halambage during the exchange, while senior Sri Lankan player Niroshan Dickwella stepped in to prevent the incident from worsening. Sooryavanshi was fined 50% of his match fee for his involvement.
The BCCI secretary had earlier said disciplinary decisions were the responsibility of match officials and the relevant cricket authorities. He also advised the India A players to focus on their performances rather than let such incidents distract them.
Sooryavanshi was last seen in action on August 25, during East Zone’s 210-run win over North East Zone in the 2026–27 Duleep Trophy quarter-final in Bengaluru. The 15-year-old all-rounder impressed with the ball, taking career-best first-class figures of 2/11 in 3 overs. Earlier, he scored 8 off 6 balls.
