Eoin Morgan Defends His Age-Old Tweets That Accused Him To Be Mocking The Indians

England limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan has opened up on the mocking allegations directed at him as a few nine year old tweets went viral about him mocking the Indians by calling them ‘Sir’. The conversations that did plenty of rounds also involved Morgan’s fellow England teammate Jos Buttler and former Kiwi captain Brendon McCullum. But the southpaw defended his tweets, stating it’s often seen a sign of admiration and respect.

Ever since England rookie seamer Kyle Jamieson’s racist and sexist tweets made as a teenager went viral, social media users have been busy digging up Twitter posts of various cricketers. The emergence of tweets by Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler, and Brendon McCullum allegedly mocking the Indians riled them up and called for their axing from their respective IPL franchises.

Eoin Morgan nonchalantly claimed that he did not reflect a lot on his age-old tweets and stated that calling someone ‘Sir’ is a sign of admiration or respect, whether it’s written anywhere.

“I don’t really reflect on it a lot. I find it, if I call somebody sir on social media, or anywhere around the world, it’s a sign of admiration and respect,” Morgan told Mirror.co.uk.

KKR CEO Venky Mysore comments on the incident involving Eoin Morgan:

After calls for Eoin Morgan to be sacked from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the franchise CEO Venky Mysore revealed that he would not comment on it before understanding the entire incident. Mysore underlined that he would like the entire process to be completed, but asserted they have ‘zero tolerance’ towards any discrimination.

“We don’t know enough about it to comment at this time. Let’s wait for the process to be completed to get all the facts before we jump to any conclusions. Just to reiterate, the Knight Riders organisation has ‘zero tolerance’ for any sort of discrimination,” Mysore told Cricbuzz.
