Eoin Morgan threatens Shubman Gill & India, announces winner of ENG-IND Test series

Former England skipper Eoin Morgan picked England as the favourites against India in the five-match Test series.

Morgan and Mark Butcher analysed the Indian squad after the BCCI selection committee announced the India squad for the upcoming England tour in June.

Eoin Morgan’s early prediction

Morgan predicted England would have the upper hand against the inexperienced Indian team in the upcoming five-Test match series.

The home conditions will favor England, and Morgan stated that it will be a tough tour for India. Morgan also added that England were never the favorites, but this time they have home form with them.

“I would say England are favourite, I haven’t looked at any of the mark, just with the home form with journey, I would say the things are in their favour at that moment. So it’s a nice place to be. I have played some really bad teams, but we were never the favourite (laughs). It's gonna be a tough tour for India,” Morgan said on Sky Sports.

Eoin Morgan praises Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill has been named as the new captain of the Indian Test team for the England tour. Morgan played with Gill in the IPL for KKR for two seasons.

“He is natural leader he takes on reposonsibilty within a group he doesn’t mind qestioning methodolgy,” Morgan added.

Morgan saw him as the natural leader and saw the potential of Gill in the KKR camp. Gill also played under Morgan when Morgan took KKR to the final of IPL 2021.

India's squad for the England tour

Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant have been named as the captain and vice-captain, respectively, for the England tour. KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudarshan, Karun Nair, and Abhimanyu Easwaran are the five batters included in the squad.

Shreyas Iyer and Sarfaraz Khan didn't get the chance for the upcoming overseas Test series. Shardul Thakur made his return to the squad as he will join Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, and Nitish Kumar Reddy as the four all-rounders for the England tour.

Jasprit Bumrah will lead the pace attack as the selectors chose five pacers for the tour, including Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, and Arshdeep Singh. Only Kuldeep Yadav has been included in the squad as the spinner.

The five-match Test series will commence on June 20 in Headingley.
