Former Pakistan National Cricket Team spin bowler Mushtaq Ahmed has opined that the former India National Cricket Team captain Virat Kohli has to take a break of 3 or 4 months from cricket to get back to form.
Star batter Kohli, who has scored 70 international centuries, has failed to score a ton since 2019. There has been a major dip in his form and his struggle for runs is one of the biggest talking points in world cricket.

His poor has continued and he has failed to perform well on the ongoing India tour of England 2022. In the rescheduled Test against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham, he scored 11 and 20 runs. He also played three white-ball games, including two T20I games and one ODI game, on the same England tour, scoring just 1 and 11 runs in T20Is while registering a score of 16 in the ODI.
Meanwhile, former Pakistan spinner Mushtaq Ahmed said that Kohli needs a 3-4 month break from cricket to get back to his outstanding form. He added that during his playing days there was a positive impact on his mindset after he used to watch his teammates on television after being dropped or rested.
“In such a situation, Virat Kohli will have to skip a big series. He has to take a 3-4 month break from cricket. When I used to be dropped, or even rested and watched my teammates on television, it affected my mindset positively. You become more intense in your training,” Mushtaq was quoted as saying in Cricket Pakistan.

Ahmed further said that Kohli would be able to make a fresh start after returning from a long break of 3 or 4 months and his energy level and mindset would be completely changed.
“If Virat returns after three months, he would forget that he has scored 27 centuries in Tests or 40+ centuries in ODIs. Then, he would make a fresh start and the concentration levels will go high. When someone is hungry, they would relish the food even more. It’s the same with cricket. When you come back after 3-4 months, your energy level and mindset would be completely changed,” he added.
Kohli will be next seen in action in the third ODI against England, which will be played on Sunday at Old Trafford, Manchester. After that, he will be out of action for about a month, having been rested for the entire 8-match limited-overs series against the West Indies.
