Former India allrounder Yuvraj Singh was delighted after leading India to the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2024 title at Edgbaston, Birmingham. India Champions won the final by defeating a strong Pakistan Champions side by 5 wickets in the final.

India Champions came into this match as underdogs having lost to Pakistan in the league stage before. Pakistan Champions had an excellent league stage in which they won four matches and lost just one match. On the other hand, India Champions struggled and somehow sneaked their way into the semis with a better net run rate. India Champions won two matches and lost three in the group stage.

But the Men in Blue raised their game when it was needed. They thrashed a strong Australian team in the semi-finals before defeating the arch-rivals Pakistan in the all-important final.

India Champions clinch the WCL 2024 title

The match turned out to be a close one but India Champions held its nerves to sneak past the Pakistan Champions. After choosing to bat first, Pakistan Champions scored 156-6 in 20 overs. It was an excellent bowling performance from the Indian bowlers who bowled to a particular plan and restricted a strong Pakistani batting line-up.

Shoaib Malik top-scored for Pakistan Champions with 41 off 36 balls while Sohail Tanvir played a late cameo of 19 from 9 balls. Anureet Singh picked up 3-43 in four overs while Pawan Negi bowled an economical spell of 1-24 in four overs.

In reply, India Champions reached the target in 19.1 overs. Ambati Rayudu scored a brilliant half-century at the top while Gurkeerat Mann played a steady innings in the middle overs. Skipper Yuvraj Singh and Yusuf Pathan built a valiant partnership in the end to steer India closer before Yusuf lost his wicket. But Irfan Pathan hit the winning boundary to take India Champions past the finish line.
