West Indian fast bowler Fidel Edwards is eyeing a return to international cricket and IPL after almost a decade following the end of his Kolpak contract with Hampshire. The 39-year-old  has been playing for Hampshire since 2015 and now is looking to make a comeback to the West Indian side with the T20 Worldcup coming up later this year. Edwards made his international debut way back in 2003 against Sri Lanka and has represented West Indies in 55 tests,50 ODIs, and 20 T20s so far.

Fidel Edwards played his last Test for West Indies in 2012 against Bangladesh and did not take part in IPL for a long time. His raw pace and round-arm action make it really tough for the batsman and he did pretty well in the recent edition of the Caribbean premier league clocking around 150 kph still. He is currently featuring in the Abu Dhabi T10 league and also revealed that he has informed Pollard about his availability.

“I’ve Changed What I Do And I’m The Fittest I’ve Ever Felt” – Fidel Edwards

Fidel Edwards revealed that he recently made himself available to play for West Indies and IPL after his Kolpak contract got ended. He felt that he is really fit now in spite of age being a big factor for him. He added that he had a good time in England and now he is looking forward to playing international cricket. He was happy with his performance in the recent Caribbean Premier League.

“I have made myself available for West Indies. I have spoken to Kieron Pollard and Phil Simmons and let them know that, if there’s any opportunity, I’m ready. Training has always been a big part of my game but, in the last 18 months or so, I’ve changed what I do and I’m the fittest I’ve ever felt. I’ve had my time in England and now I’ve made myself available to represent West Indies again. I think I did pretty well in the CPL and I’m keeping my fingers crossed,” Fidel Edwards said.

Edwards Might Return To IPL

Edwards had previously played in IPL 2009 for the Deccan Chargers and picked up 5 wickets in 6 games. He was part of the Rajasthan Royals squad in 2013 but did not play for them. He expressed his desire to put his name in the auction back and play in the IPL for another time.

“I enjoyed my time at Hampshire, but that was a big part of me not playing in the IPL. But now I’m not with them, my aim is to put my name back out there and hopefully get another chance to play. Anything is possible.” said Fidel Edwards
