The India Women’s cricket team is getting ready to undergo changes in its staff, as the fielding coach and trainer will be replaced prior to the women’s Australia tour, reports confirmed.

The fielding coach, Abhay Sharma, apparently didn’t enter the bio-bubble created for the team in Bengaluru. Along with him, trainer Naresh Ramdas was also missing, with the reason being that they are set to be replaced soon.

Abhay is also part of the support staff at the National Cricket Academy. He didn’t show up to the bio-bubble on Tuesday, which surprised the women cricket players. A BCCI official stated that the fielding coach and trainer will be announced very shortly.

After taking over the reins in the team, Abhay and Naresh had brought about a visible upgrade in India’s fielding and overall fitness. Skipper Mithali Raj had praised Abhay and credited him for the improvement they had made in the UK tour which concluded recently.

The Australian tour will be commencing in the month of September. Only the head coach position, that of Ramesh Powar, is permanent while the support team keeps getting changed. Abhay will likely join the U-19 team ahead of the World Cup next year. Last month, Harmanpreet had praised Abhay for making certain adjustments that benefited the team.

Earlier also, we used to make a lot of effort but the little adjustments that Abhay sir has done with our fielding, the individual sessions that he has taken with the players, that has helped.

The most important point is that he judged every player where [they] can do better fielding, so we are getting the results day by day from the effort that we have put in, which is a great positive,” Kaur had revealed.

The bio-bubble created includes 30-odd players who will participate in the upcoming tour of Australia in the period of September-October.
