Again, Finn Allen got the start but could not convert the momentum into a long-standing knock. Lungi Ngidi bowled the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener inside the power play. A breakthrough for the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Eden Gardens.
KKR got a strong start with the opening combination of Ajinkya Rahane and Finn Allen. The New Zealand opener was playing his natural aggressive batting. On the second ball of the fifth over of the second innings, he tried to get another big shot off the ace South African pacer.
A little bit of movement, and Finn Allen departs.
Lungi Ngidi, with his experience, knew where to land the ball to counter the batter. The seamer pitched the ball on the good length area, on the off as well. The ball skidded into the batter a little bit. That movement was enough to trick the batter.
Finn remained tall to heave the ball over the mid on, but made a complete mess. The ball took an inside edge and lashed on the stumps. KKR lost their first wicket of the night. Finn Allen departed for 20 runs from 13 balls. The 13-ball knock contains three 4s and one 6. The batter was visibly not happy with the dismissal and punched the bat in anger.

It is the first time that the Protea pacer took the Kiwi batter's wicket in this format of the game. Allen has seven 4s and four 6s against Lungi Ngidi.
KKR needs 204 runs to win the match
Batting first, Delhi Capitals managed to score 204 runs in 20 overs, against 5 batters. KL Rahul was brilliant with the bat, securing another half-century in this season. The opener of DC scored 60 runs from 30 balls only. Rahul smashed five 4s and four 6s to decorate the effective knock. Apart from KL Rahul's knock, there was nothing fancy from the rest of the line-up. Delhi went past the 200-run mark because of their collective effort.
Saurabh Dubey, the emerging pacer, turned out to be the most effective bowler for the Kolkata Knight Riders. The seamer took a brace in his 4-over spell against an economy rate of 7.00 only.
A dead rubber at the Eden Gardens
If KKR manages to win tonight in their last IPL 2026 group match, that will not help them to qualify for the play-offs, as the top four teams are confirmed after today's Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals match. After the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan secures its place in the play-offs this season.
