The 40-year-old West Indies National Cricket Team pacer Fidel Edwards recalled his first impression of India star Rohit Sharma, asserting that he was impressed with the batting of young Rohit when he bowled to the India batter for the first time in the nets.
India captain Rohit Sharma is undoubtedly one of the best batters in modern-day cricket. He has scored 16207 international runs at an average of 43.10, including 41 tons and 87 fifties. As a skipper, he has won 5 Indian Premier League (IPL) championships and an Asia Cup title.

In the 2009 IPL season, Rohit, who was a part of the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup winning squad, played 16 games and scored 362 runs at an average of 27.84.
Meanwhile, Fidel Edwards, who was also a part of the Deccan Chargers’ IPL winning squad, has recalled his first impression of bowling to then-22-year-old Rohit Sharma for the first time.
“From the first time I bowled at him in the nets, I was like, ‘woah, this guy can really bat’,” Edwards told Hindustan Times on the sidelines of the Delhi leg of Legends League Cricket.

Edwards further said that he was confident looking at Rohit in 2009 that he was going to become a highly successful player. He also made a prediction that the India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma will perform well in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
“You had a young Indian player that can put pressure on the opponent. When we were at Deccan Chargers, we knew these guys can be really good, and after looking at how they turned out, it’s no surprise. And I’m quite sure Rohit is going to do really well in Australia too,” said the Windies pacer.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which is the eighth edition of the multi-nation tournament, is scheduled to be played from October 16 to November 13.
