Five Indian Players To Flop In 2023

The year 2023 saw a lot of stellar performances from the Indian players. Be It Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma or KL Rahul, everyone brought their best version in 2023. Shubman Gill was brilliant throughout the year especially in the ODI format whereas Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were the top two run-getters in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. KL Rahul may have not started the year suspiciously but he made a stunning comeback after coming back from his injury.

However, there are also a few Indian players who had a disappointing 2023. They failed to keep up with their performances and completely disappointed the team in 2023. Some of the players had a terrible IPL season and on that basis, they were not selected for the national team whereas some were a total disappointment for the national team.

Here Are Five Indian Players Who Disappointed The Team With Their Performances

1. K S Bharat:

K S Bharat was selected as the wicket-keeper for India in the Border-Gavaskar series and the ICC World Test Championship. He was terrible with the bat failing to score even a single fifty-plus score in all the five Test matches he played this year. His performance as a wicketkeeper was also below average and he had a forgetful 2023 with the Indian Team.

2. Cheteshwar Pujara:

India’s premier No.3 in red-ball cricket had a completely disappointing 2023. He played five Test matches in 2023 and failed to score even a single century. Pujara only scored one half-century in 2023 and he was a big disappointment for the Indian team especially in the WTC finals where everyone was expecting him to use his experience of playing County cricket in England. He scored 181 runs at an average of 25.86 in five Test matches and as a result, he was dropped from the Indian Test side after the WTC finals.

3. Ishan Kishan:

The southpaw had a decent IPL season but his performance for the Indian Team was not just up to the mark. Apart from a good innings against Pakistan in a rain-affected match during the Asia Cup 2023, Ishan Kishan had a disappointing 2023 season, especially in T20Is. He could only manage 207 runs in 11 matches with a lousy average of 18.82. His ODI performances were also not up to the mark with just 456 runs to his name in 17 matches at an average of 35.08.

4. Prithvi Shaw:

The 2018 Under 19 World Cup-winning skipper had a shabby 2023 as he barely crossed 100 runs in the IPL 2023. He scored 106 runs in eight innings in IPL 2023 at an average of 13.25 with just one fifty-plus score to his name. He had a few good performances in the One-Day Domestic Cup in England but after an injury, he was out of the tournament. Prithvi Shaw is not in the scheme of things for India because of his inconsistent run and poor performances. He also had a lot of fitness concerns this year and was at his worst.

5. Rahul Tripathi:

Rahul Tripathi was one of the few players who made his debut for India in 2023. However, he failed to perform at the big stage and was a complete disappointment for the team. He played 5 T20Is in 2023 and could not even manage to cross 100 runs. Tripathi could only accumulate 97 runs in five matches at an average of 19.40. He was also a flop show in the IPL 2023 as he scored only 273 runs in 13 games at an average of 22.75.
