India ODI captain Rohit Sharma shared a funny moment with former assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and physiotherapist Amit Dubey. The three, who are close friends, were relaxing in a luxurious hotel room when Rohit introduced Nayar as a “stiff” person, prompting laughter and a hilarious exchange.
Abhishek Nayar had been appointed India’s assistant coach under Gautam Gambhir in 2024 and was part of the team that won the Champions Trophy in the UAE. However, he was sacked in May 2025 following India’s disappointing Test series defeat against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT).

Rohit Sharma was recently spotted relaxing with Amit Dubey and Abhishek Nayar, and the video has gone viral on social media. In the video, Rohit jokingly introduced Nayar as a “stiff” person, teasing him while the three enjoyed their time in a luxurious hotel room.
"That's Abhishek Nayar, by the way, whether he plays, whether he coaches, whether he's on his bed, he's always stiff," said Rohit.
"I am flexible when I am coaching," Nayar also gave a cheeky reply to Rohit's statement.
Rohit and Dubey burst into laughter at Nayar’s quip. Rohit asked why Dubey was so happy, adding to the humorous moment.
"Kya Dubey ji, itna khush kyun ho rahe ho bhai? (Dubey ji, why are you so happy?)"

Amit has worked with Rohit during his time with the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rohit, now retired from T20Is and Tests, remains active in ODIs and is preparing for India’s upcoming series against Australia starting on October 19.
Rohit Sharma Spotted at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai on Monday
Earlier on Monday, Rohit Sharma was spotted visiting Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai, causing concern among fans. A video circulating on social media showed him entering the hospital while avoiding questions from paparazzi. The purpose of his visit remains unclear.
The 38-year-old retired from Tests in May ahead of the five-match Test series against England. Notably, the Indian team, led by Shubman Gill, managed to draw the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
The right-handed batter scored 4,301 runs in 67 Tests at an average of 40.58, including 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries. He had led India to the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and Caribbean Islands before announcing his retirement from the format.
Rohit Sharma Expected to Return for India During Australia Tour
Rohit Sharma hasn’t represented India since the 2025 Champions Trophy final against New Zealand in Dubai. The right-handed batter scored 76 runs in the summit clash. He won the Player of the Match award after helping the Men in Blue lift the trophy for the third time.
Rohit will now focus exclusively on the 50-over format for India and is expected to return to national colors during the upcoming series against Australia.
The veteran last played competitive cricket in IPL 2025 for the Mumbai Indians, scoring 418 runs in 15 matches at a strike rate of 149.28. However, the Mumbai Indians were eliminated by the Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2. Rohit will be aiming to prolong his career leading up to the ICC ODI World Cup 2027.
