'For You Guys, I’m Enough' - Virender Sehwag Takes Pakistani Pace Trio With Ease

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag is one of the most explosive openers that international cricket has ever seen. Sehwag was known for his free-flowing shots and also the aggressive batting he did on the cricket field during his playing days. Apart from being an aggressive and free-flowing batsman, Sehwag is also famous for his friendly brotherhood with the Pakistani players.

Such brotherhood was seen between former Pakistani players such as Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Akhtar along with Virender Sehwag, when these players engaged in a video interaction. All these players will be part of the ILT20 2024 which is set to start from January 19.

Virender Sehwag gives a blunt reply to three Pakistani legends

In a video posted by Abu Dhabi Knight Riders on ‘X’, all these players can be seen having funny banters with each other. The video started with Wasim Akram gently introducing Virender Sehwag. Akram took a friendly dig at Sehwag and considered him a ‘good-natured off-spinner’.

On this, Shoaib Akhtar, who was known for his lethal pace bowling and aggression, jumped in between the conversation and said to Virender Sehwag,  “Don’t be afraid, Veeru. The last time the three of us (Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Akhtar) were playing, you were cleaning your spectacles on the field.”

However, Virender Sehwag was also not too far down and gave a brilliant reply to Shoaib Akhtar, “I wear contact lenses now… to look at your beautiful face.”

Later on in the conversation, it was revealed veteran Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh would also be a part of the commentary panel for the second edition of the ILT20. Analyzing the fact, Virender Sehwag said, “Are there only bowlers allowed in this commentary panel? No worries, tum sabke liye mai akela hi kaafi hoon (For you guys, I’m enough).”

Apart from Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Shoaib Akhtar, Waqar Younis, and Wasim Akram, the commentary panel consists of names such as Saba Karim, Rohan Gavaskar, Alan Wilkins, Simon Doull, Daren Ganga besides former India captain Anjum Chopra along with Reema Malhotra and Natalie Germanos.

The second edition of the ILT20 will mark the presence of famous players such as Australian opener David Warner, Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, West Indies legends Dwayne Bravo and Sunil Narine, Kiwi opener Martin Guptill, English players such as Sam Billings, David Willey, Alex Hales, Tom Curran, James Vince and Chris Woakes whereas Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz and USA all-rounder Corey Anderson will be the part of the league.

The inaugural match of the tournament will be played between Gulf Giants and Sharjah Warriors at the Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium in Sharjah on January 19. Gulf Giants were the defending champions of the tournament and will once again want to retain their title.

Apart from Gulf Giants and Sharjah Warriors other teams include Dessert Vipers, MI Emirates, Dubai Capitals, and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. Capitals were the finalists in the last edition and will look forward to winning their first ILT20 title. Other teams as well have great potential and no team can be taken lightly in the tournament.
