Former Sri Lanka Cricketer Roshan Mahanama Provides Tea And Buns To People Waiting At Gas Station Amidst Crisis In The Country

In the capital city of Colombo, former cricketer Roshan Mahanama provided tea and buns to people waiting at gas stations.
Sri Lanka is experiencing its greatest financial crisis since independence, and petrol and food are in short supply everywhere. After the island nation’s electricity minister said on Friday that the country’s fuel supply would run out in five days, petrol station lines became a few kilometres longer.

The world cup-winning cricketer, along with a few volunteers, served tea and buns to people waiting at gas stations in an effort to alleviate their misery.

“We served tea and buns with the team from Community Meal Share this evening for the people at the petrol queues around Ward Place and Wijerama Mawatha. The queues are getting longer by the day and there will be many health risks to people staying in queues,” he wrote on Twitter.

Mahanama also advised people to pack enough water and food to endure long lines. He urged people to support one another through difficult times.
“Please, look after each other in the fuel queues. Bring adequate fluid and food and if you’re not well please, reach out to the closest person next to you and ask for support or call 1990. We need to look after each other during these difficult times,” said another of his tweets.

On the cricket front, Sri Lanka is playing against Australia in an ODI series and they are currently leasing the 5-match series by 2-1 having won the 3rd ODI by 6 wickets.
Sri Lanka set a new record in the Premadasa, and the remarkable thing is how easily they did it. On a pitch that was turning, 291 seemed like a good total at the halfway point. However, fitness difficulties for Nissanka and Mendis during their brilliant 213-run second-wicket partnership proved to be the toughest hurdle for Sri Lanka. Mendis was forced to retire hurt for 87 runs, but Nissanka fought back to score his first ODI century. The pair never allowed the rate to get out of hand during the chase. They were in complete control throughout, dominating Australia’s spin options.
