IPL 2025 will pose a big challenge for Chennai Super Kings as they need to form their squad from scratch. IPL 2025 auction is a mega auction and CSK will need to retain only a few players and part ways with most of them.

CSK was led by Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL 2024 as MS Dhoni handed him the leadership ahead of the tournament. However, the Men-in-Yellow struggled badly to make their way into the playoffs and lost a crucial game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Chennai has a strong squad currently and many prominent names. However, they need to drop many players due to the mega auction. They also want to retain some of their best members. Below are 3 players who will be retained by CSK ahead of the IPL 2025 season.

3. Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad is the new skipper of Chennai Super Kings and will be one of the first choices for retention. The right-handed batsman also showed a wonderful form in IPL 2024.

With 583 runs in 14 games, he finished as the leading run-getter for CSK and the second-highest in the tournament. He has also been a consistent performer with the bat for the last few seasons for CSK.

2. Ravindra Jadeja

With his rocking ability to bat, ball, and field, Ravindra Jadeja is one of the best men on the field and CSK cannot risk benching him. With his spin attack, Jadeja can grab crucial wickets. With his batting, he can smack sixes to get the winning runs for the team in the lower order.

With his fabulous fielding, he can dismiss the opposition batters. In IPL 2024, the left-handed batsman added 267 runs in 11 innings at 44+ average and also grabbed 8 wickets. These reasons are enough for the franchisee to retain him for IPL 2025.

1. Shivam Dube

Shivam Dube joined CSK in the IPL 2022 auction and the event changed his cricket career. With MS Dhoni's guidance, the left-handed batter became one of the best middle-order batters in IPL. With his consistent shows, he also got a chance on the national team and has cemented his place.

He was part of the side that won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Dube was dashing with the bat in IPL 2024, adding 396 runs in 14 games at a 162+ strike rate. Chennai cannot risk dropping him from the side at the current time.
