Head coach Gautam Gambhir, along with selector Ajit Agarkar, talked to Virat Kohli after the 4th Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as they wanted to have clarity about Kohli’s preferences. The source close to developments confirmed the same and stated:

“Hours after Virat Kohli’s superlative performance against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Champions Trophy match in Dubai on Sunday — it has come to light that chief selector Ajit Agarkar and coach Gautam Gambhir had wanted to know the star batter’s “plan” during the fag end of the Australian tour when runs weren’t coming that freely. By asking such a question about his future plan, the selector and coach perhaps wanted clarity about Kohli’s preferences."

Virat Kohli didn't do well in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The right-hander managed just 190 runs in the five games, out of which 100 came in the first game. The right-hander had an average of 23.75 in the series as India went on to lose by the margin of 3-1.
