Former India opener Gautam Gambhir feels that India and Pakistan fans need to change their mindset of celebrating each other’s defeat. He noted that Indian fans celebrate when Pakistan loses and vice-versa. According to Gautam Gambhir, this should not happen.

During the recent ODI World Cup, fans of both countries celebrated each other’s defeats. There were reports that Indian fans celebrated Pakistan’s defeat against Afghanistan. Moreover, Pakistan fans celebrating India’s final loss to Australia also did the rounds on social media.

India-Pakistan Fans Need To Change Mindset: Gautam Gambhir

During a recent interview, cricketer-turned-commentator Gautam Gambhir said that India and Pakistan fans need to change their mindset of celebrating each other’s defeats.

“It is senseless to celebrate someone else’s defeat. When Pakistan lose, Indian fans enjoy it, and it is the same in Pakistan when India fails to win a contest. This is a negative attitude. It is time to change this mindset. People have started doing such things for the sake of social media. Find joy in your success and not in the pain of others,” Gambhir said.

Gautam Gambhir also added that India and Pakistan will compete against each other in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 next year and might also reach the final.

“India and Pakistan will compete against each other in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, and they might also qualify for the final. It shouldn’t be the case that supporters in India are in celebration mode if Pakistan lose against a team, or Pakistan fans go on a celebration spree if India fails,” Gautam Gambhir further said.
