Former England batter Sir Geoffrey Boycott has picked Sachin Tendulkar as one of the four greatest batters that he has ever seen. Alongside Tendulkar, Boycott named Sir Vivian Richards, Sir Garfield Sobers, and Brian Lara as the other batters on the list.

The Indian legend played international cricket for 24 years and broke several records on the way. Tendulkar scored over 18000 runs in ODI cricket at an average of 44.83 and has close to 16000 runs in Tests at an average of 53.78. He is the highest run-scorer overall in both Tests and ODIs.

Sir Geoffrey Boycott names the four best batters he has ever seen

Geoffrey Boycott took to X (formerly Twitter) and picked Sachin Tendulkar as one of the four greatest batters he has seen in his lifetime. "Indian icon - Sachin one of the four greatest batsmen I have ever seen," Boycott posted on X.

Tendulkar played 200 Tests and 463 ODIs in his international career, which is also a record. He is also the first player to score a double-century in ODI cricket when he scored 200* off 147 balls against South Africa in 2010 at Gwalior.

When asked about the other three batters on the list, Boycott named Sir Vivian Richards, Brian Lara, and Sir Garfield Sobers.

Sachin Tendulkar records in international cricket

Sachin Tendulkar has scored a record 100 international hundreds in his career and is the only player in history to achieve the feat so far. He scored 51 hundreds in Tests and 49 hundreds in ODIs.

The legendary Indian batter has an exceptional record in World Cups where he has scored 2278 runs in six editions of the tournament. His tally of 673 runs in the 2003 ODI World Cup is still the highest no. of runs scored in a World Cup edition. Tendulkar played a key role in India's path to the final of the 2003 World Cup, but India lost the final to Australia.

His dream of winning the World Cup was finally fulfilled in 2011 when India won the ODI World Cup. Tendulkar emerged as the second-highest run-getter of the edition and the highest for India.

After his retirement in 2013, Sachin Tendulkar has been widely engaged in social media and other platforms. He is also seen during various marquee sports events going around the world.

Meanwhile, Sir Geoffrey Boycott had a glorious international career for England. Boycott's international career spanned 18 years and he scored 8114 runs in 108 Tests at an average of 47.72. He also scored 1082 runs in 36 ODIs.

Alongside being a legendary cricketer, Geoffrey Boycott is a commentator as well. He has been often vocal about England's performances, especially in Test cricket.

In the Test series played between India and England earlier this year, Boycott severely criticized England's 'Bazball' mindset when the team failed to put up a substantial performance. Boycott lashed out England captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum by claiming that Bazball is a 'failure'.
