In addition, Maxwell could also miss the beginning few matches of the IPL 2022 season. Although the start date for the cash-rich league hasn’t been confirmed yet, Maxwell could be out for early April matches.

Originally when I organised the dates with CA there was a two-week gap where I could potentially have it. So when I sorted that out I was pretty happy that I wasn’t going to be missing in any series.

And then I came to the [CA] contract meeting midway through last year and they said well this is [when] the Pakistan series [is on] and I thought well obviously that’s changed since the last conversation we had,” Maxwell explained to Fox Sports.

Batting first, they put up an under-par total of 121/6 on the board courtesy of some tight bowling from the Aussies. Player of the Match, Kane Richardson was the pick of the bowlers, ending with figures of 3/21 in four overs.

In response, Australia got off to a shaky start as they lost Ben McDermott off the very first ball of the innings. The run-chase was stabilized soon after and 26-ball 39 from Maxwell sealed the deal for the hosts. They secure the series 3-0 with two games to go.
