'GOAT' Jasprit Bumrah joins elite club of Indian bowlers with 400 international wickets
India's bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is probably the best all-format bowler in the world right now. The fast bowler achieved another unique feat during India's first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai.
Bumrah led the way in the first innings with a brilliant four-wicket haul and Bangladesh had no answer for him. He struck in the first over of the innings by picking up the big wicket of Shadman Islam. He was then taken out of the attack but came back to bowl when Mushfiqur Rahim arrived at the crease.
Bumrah did exactly what he asked of him. He dismissed the dangerous Rahim cheaply as he had him caught at the slip by KL Rahul. The 30-year-old was back in the death overs and cleaned up the tail by dismissing Hasan Mahmud and Taskin Ahmed. He finished with 4-50 in the innings.
Jasprit Bumrah joins elite club; achieves unique feat
When Bumrah picked up his third wicket of the innings in the form of Hasan Mahmud, he completed 400 wickets in his international career. It was a humongous achievement for a bowler who was once called unsuitable for Test cricket.
Currently, Bumrah has 163 wickets in 37 Tests, 149 wickets in 89 ODIs, and 89 wickets in 70 T20Is to his name. The right-arm fast bowler is a lethal bowler in all formats and he has a proven record as well.
Jasprit Bumrah has now become the 10th Indian bowler and sixth Indian fast bowler to achieve the milestone of 400 international wickets. Thus, he entered himself in the elite club of 400 international wickets.
Jasprit Bumrah is 30 right now and is likely to break many records in the upcoming years. From his debut in 2016, he has established himself as India's topmost bowler. He is a genuine wicket-taker and often provides breakthroughs whenever his team needs him to.
Jasprit Bumrah returns to international cricket in style
Bumrah is excellent with the new ball and has the ability to reverse swing the ball too. He also has an unplayable slower ball which he uses as a surprise weapon.
Jasprit Bumrah's last international match before the ongoing Test was in June end in the T20 World Cup 2024 final where he bowled a sensational spell to take India to a title win. He was adjudged Player of the Tournament for his outstanding display with the ball.
Despite returning to international cricket after a long time, he was right on the money and did not show any signs of rustiness. Bumrah will be important in the upcoming Test season for India where they will play 5 Tests at home and 5 away.
