Former India captain and the current Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, MS Dhoni is an idol, a sort of demi-god, for his fans, and youngsters; so is for CSK’s latest recruit — C Hari Nishaanth, who was bought for his base price of Rs. 20 lakhs in the IPL 2021 auction.

The 24-year-old had all the reasons to express his elation, via an Instagram post, of meeting and sharing the dressing room with his childhood hero when he met MS Dhoni during CSK’s preparatory camp which has commenced in Chennai.

The Ooty-born left-handed batsman, who recently won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with Tamil Nadu, in his Instagram post, said that he is honoured to be sharing the same dressing room with the 2-time World Cup-winning skipper. ‘Dreams do come true’, is how Nishaanth pens his fanboy moment.

“Grew up idolising you and watching you win so many games for CSK & India under tremendous pressure. It’s been an honour to share the dressing room with you and pick up every little thing that you share. Dreams do come true!” C Hari Nishaanth captioned the post.

The left-handed opener scored 246 runs at an average of 41.00, with a best of 92* in the SMAT 2021; he was a crucial cog in the Tamil Nadu side which won the tournament not having tasted defeat even once!

MS Dhoni looking for a 4th title in perhaps his last IPL season

With MS Dhoni already retired from international cricket – his last game was the 2019 World Cup semi-final – and not participating in the domestic matches for Jharkhand as well, it isn’t a farfetched thought that the upcoming 14th edition could well be his last IPL.

MS Dhoni, 40 this July, has led the Yellow Army to three IPL titles – however, a dip in form of both the skipper and his side last season, finishing  7th failing to qualify for the playoffs first time, indicates much of Dhoni’s farewell.

While from the international stage, Dhoni had to leave with pain and dejection, however, ‘Thala’ would want to bid adieu to the IPL with another trophy in his bag. With a couple of strong purchases in the auction, availability of their players in the squad, and some positive takeaways from the previous season, CSK are always the title contenders.

They begin their campaign against last season’s runner-up Delhi Capitals on April 10th in Mumbai.
