Whenever Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is on the pitch, a flurry of boundaries is guaranteed. Whether it is a pacer, a spinner, an uncapped bowler, or an international star, the result remains the same. The entire cricket fraternity has been in awe since his debut match for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025.
The 15-year-old registered a century against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Jaipur with ease. A world-class bowler like Pat Cummins also proved less effective against the young batter. There is no denying that Vaibhav is playing on a different stratosphere.
Michael Vaughan issues a huge statement for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Former England captain Michael Vaughan is also mesmerized by the talent of the emerging Indian batter. He lauded the Bihar-born by saying that Vaibhav is already the most destructive Indian opener in the Twenty20 format.
“It’s a no-brainer… he is the most destructive indian T20 opener,” Vaughan said this through his ‘X’ post.
Showing trust in the immense skills and potential of the batter, the former cricketer, now a cricket expert, would love to see Vaibhav Sooryavanshi traveling with Team India for their upcoming fixtures against the England cricket team.
“I’d have him in the India squad for the England series this summer,” he also said.

A blistering century against SRH in IPL 2026
In the 36th match of the ongoing IPL 2026, Rajasthan Royals (RR) locked horns against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Jaipur. In the hot and humid temperature of Rajasthan, he played a scorching knock. The southpaw scored 103 runs in 37 balls against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, maintaining a strike rate of 278.38. Five 4s and twelve 6s took his strike rate to the ceiling. With the century of Vaibhav, the Rajasthan Royals secured a total of 228 runs in 20 overs.
However, the total proved insufficient to restrict the star-studded Hyderabad batting line from hunting it down with ease. Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan guided SRH for a successful run chase.
Despite the result of the match, which goes against Rajasthan, the blistering knock by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will remain as a testimony of aggressive batting at the highest order.
Sooryavanshi explained his batting method
During the innings break, the RR opener expressed that the pitch was good for batting, and he played according to the balls. There was not enough thinking behind his batting; he just trusted in his natural batting style and kept the bowlers smashing from the first ball.
“There wasn’t any specific plan to hit the first ball. But we discussed the match. Yash bhaiya said that we should play freely today. If we get the opportunity from the first ball, we should back our game - and that’s exactly what happened,” Vaibhav Sooryavanshi said after the first innings.
“There wasn’t much thinking, sir. I just played according to the ball. The wicket felt good, so I backed my game. Just that I wanted to give 100% for the team and back my game,” he added.
