Chennai Super Kings
CSK returned to winning ways after beating Punjab Kings in the previous game. In the process, they ended a five-match losing streak against the side. So far they have lost five games this season and with three league games to go, they are third on the points table.
Heading into this game, they will be missing Mustafizur Rahman, Matheesha Pathirana, and Deepak Chahar their three key bowlers. It will be interesting to see how they cope with their absence.
Gujarat Titans
GT have lost their previous three games. They lost two against RCB and once against Delhi Capitals. Shubman Gil has been woefully out of form not having scored even 100 runs in the last five innings. He has not provided consistent starts with Wriddhiman Saha at the top. David Miller has not been consistent as well.
On the bowling front, they have dearly missed Mohammed Shami in the second half of the season. Mohit Sharma and Rashid Khan have not been as effective as expected.

Pitch Conditions
The pitch has been a good one for batting so far this season. Only one game saw GT being bowled out for just 89 against Delhi Capitals. Punjab Kings and RCB chased down 200 or more at this venue. Dew has been a big factor at this ground and hence teams have preferred chasing.
Form and Fitness
There are fitness concerns in both camps. Reports say that Deepak Chahar who pulled his hamstring is unlikely to play in the remaining games. CSK are also missing The Fizz and Pathirana in the bowling ranks now with both of them having left the team for national commitments.
