Kolkata Knight Riders middle-order batsman Rinku Singh has claimed that things are going up and down for him when asked about his form in IPL 2024.
Rinku Singh, who has become a key player for the Knight Riders over the last two seasons, hasn't really hit his peak form this season. A lot was expected from his bat but it appears that he is going through a lean run of form this year after experiencing his best season with the bat in IPL 2023. Possibly for that reason, he was excluded from the main squad of team India's ICC T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
Rinku Singh speaks in his own "Desi" way
While speaking to Deep Dasgupta before last night's IPL 2024 fixture between Mumbai and Kolkata began, Rinku Singh took some time out for a quick chat. Rinku, who hails from Aligarh (West of Uttar Pradesh) gave honest answers to Dasgupta's questions in his own "Desi" (indigenous) way of speaking.
Dasgupta firstly asked Rinku Singh to shed light on his current batting form and how IPL 2024 has gone for him. To its response, Rinku kept it honest and claimed that he hasn't really got many chances to bat this season but whenever the chance came, he failed to make the most out of it.
Rinku Singh is a very selfless player who thinks majorly about his contribution towards the game's success. After all, his position in the middle-order is such that he can't actually play for individual milestones. His role is to come in, play a few balls, and then start smacking the bowlers all over the park.
But that has not happened this season even for a single game. Rinku has scored only 168 runs from 12 matches at a strike rate of 148.67 and hasn't scored a single half-century. Whereas last season, Rinku Singh had 474 runs to show from 14 league matches but the good thing about this season is that KKR have already qualified for the play-offs.
"I haven't really got many chances to bat this season but whenever my turn came to bat, I haven't done well and contributed for the team. I'm going through a lots of ups and downs at the moment. I try to keep myself mentally strong and I try to keep my calm all the time and I keep on believing that it (scoring runs) will happen in the next game," Rinku said in pre-match interview.

Rinku reveals that Ramandeep Singh is the DJ of the KKR dressing room
Deep Dasgupta also asked Rinku Singh about the atmosphere of the KKR dressing room and asked about that one player who always keeps things light.
The left-hand batter then admitted that the dressing room atmosphere always remains good as players vibe to Punjabi songs as soon as entering. Rinku also revealed that power hitter Ramandeep Singh is the player in the team who takes the responsibility of playing music.
"Yeah everyone is good because as soon as everyone gets into the dressing room, Punjabi songs get played and then there is Ramandeep bhai who has taken the responsibility of playing songs" Rinku concluded.
