Royal Challengers Bengaluru's capped Indian batter Rajat Patidar has stated that the franchise can still crawl its way into the playoffs of the IPL 2024 season.

Rajat Patidar has had an inconsistent IPL 2024 season so far. The Madhya Pradesh batter could not really find his rhythm in the tournament in the early days but in RCB's last two games, Patidar seems to have found his mojo back. His contribution also helped the South-Indian team to somehow get back on track as they claimed victory in their previous match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

That win against Pat Cummins' side at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium was only their 2nd win of the season, which is not going to be enough. For them to qualify for the top 4, RCB must win all of their upcoming games and if those wins are heavy margin wins, then it will be icing on the cake.

What did Rajat Patidar say?

While speaking to media reporters at the Narendra Modi stadium which hosts RCB Vs Gujarat Titans today, Rajat Patidar made some huge claims. The right-hand batter was first asked to shed light on the current situation of the points table. In his response, Patidar stated that the team is not at all worried about the points table and neither are they focussing on it.

Rajat Patidar claimed that RCB is a team that doesn't like comparing themselves to other teams and where they all are at the table. He revealed that the team's main motive at the moment is to take it one game at a time. He then made a huge claim that Bengaluru are more than capable of staging a turnaround in the tournament and that they can't look away now.

"About points tables, we discuss this, but we don't compare ourselves with other teams. We are focusing on one match at a time. We believe that we can turn around the points table. It's very difficult to look too away from here," Patidar told media reporters in Ahmedabad.

If RCB continue to perform the way they did against SRH in their last league match, then only they will have the chance to stage a turnaround. Otherwise, all the games will just become mere formalities. The team had their bowlers click in just at the right time and it was what the team management were expecting from them since the start of the season.

RCB would first post a target of 207 en route with Rajat Patidar's man of the match-winning 50 off 20, Virat Kohli's 51 off 43, and Cameron Green's 37 off 20. Dinesh Karthik and Swapnil Singh also made contributions of 11 and 12 at strike rates of over 180.

The bowling department then restricted SRH to 171, thanks to wickets from Will Jacks (1), Yash Dayal (1), Swapnil Singh (2), Karn Sharma (2) and Green (2).

Patidar stresses keeping things simple

Rajat Patidar then highlighted RCB's 35-run victory against SRH in their previous league match, admitting that everyone in the team is happy with that welcome-back win. He also claimed that every player is in a good mood and that the team will try to keep things simple in the upcoming games.

"So, I think we are seeing this tournament. We have 5-6 more games from here and I think we should focus on one game at a time. We are not focusing too ahead that what we can do from here to the end of the tournament, so, it is good to focus on one game at a time

"Everyone is in a good frame of mind because we won the last match and we did it beautifully. About the next game, we are keeping things simple, so that we can execute our plans well," Patidar concluded.
