Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh-born batsman Hanuma Vihari has responded to the summon from the Andhra Cricket Association in the light of his remarks about not playing for the state again. Vihari took to Instagram last month and revealed that a certain player with a political background is trying to get him off captaincy and that he was taken aback by the treatment he received from ACA.
It is being reported by ESPNcricinfo that Hanuma Vihari has replied to the show-cause summon from the Andhra Association where his stance has remained the same as before. ACA had sent him an email, asking him to explain his words and the abrupt decision he took of never representing the state team ever again.
Hanuma Vihari replied to the email by saying that he said nothing but pure facts and tried to highlight the malicious attempt to disrupt his career. As of today, Vihari remains firm on his stance that he doesn’t want to continue playing for Andhra and that he is waiting for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from ACA so that he can join another state team before the 2024-25 domestic season.
ACA claims that they are willing to hear out the grievances of Hanuma Vihari
As revealed by PTI, the ACA served Hanuma Vihari with a show-cause notice to talk through his grievances and the issues he faced playing for the state. The source claimed that ACA is eager to know the exact reason behind Vihari’s comments last month which caused a massive stir in the Indian cricketing fraternity.
Lastly, the ACA also claimed that they value the contribution of Hanuma Vihari, they appreciate his efforts to lead Andhra Pradesh very well in the domestic circuit.
What next for Hanuma Vihari?
Hanuma Vihari, who last appeared for the Indian team back in July 2022 during a Test match against England, could be securing a move elsewhere and represent another Ranji Trophy team. He has been captain of Andhra Pradesh for a while now but the recent issue has made him make up his mind to quit playing for the state he took birth in.
Before he represented the Andhra Pradesh state team, Hanuma Vihari used to play for Hyderabad (India) team and he could be on for his 3rd team. The right-hand batter is less than 700 runs away from completing 10,000 runs in First-class cricket as he currently stands at 9325 runs in 124 matches at an average of 51.80, including 24 Hundreds and 49 half-centuries with a best of 302*.
