Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has made bold predictions about the future of Team India’s batting legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. He stressed that Kohli’s unmatched physical fitness could see him dominating the international arena for another five years, while Rohit will continue his stellar career for at least two more years in the national colors.

Harbhajan Singh, who has over 700 international wickets to his name, has confidently claimed that Virat Kohli, known for his exceptional fitness levels, can play for longer periods of time than the past legends. His rigorous training and commitment to maintaining peak physical condition have made him arguably the fittest player in the world.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have a lot of cricket left in them: Harbhajan Singh

The legendary spinner feels his remarkable fitness could see Virat Kohli extending his career well into the next five years, continuing to be a force in international cricket. He added that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have a lot of cricket left, and there is no reason why they can’t continue if they maintain their form and fitness.

Harbhajan Singh emphasized that experienced players like Rohit and Kohli are essential for balancing the Indian cricket team and guiding the younger generation. However, the 2011 World Cup winner also pointed out that selection decisions should be based on performance.

The commentator stressed that if any player, regardless of their seniority, including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, fails to contribute effectively, they should be replaced by younger talent. The selectors must consider fitness and performance metrics when making decisions about team composition.

Harbhajan Singh was quoted as saying by the PTI: “Rohit can easily play for two more years. You never know with Virat Kohli's fitness; you can see him competing for five years. He is probably the fittest guy in the team. You ask any 19-year-old competing with Virat (on fitness). Virat will beat him. He is that fit. I believe Virat and Rohit have a lot of cricket left in them and it is entirely up to them. If they are fit enough, they are performing, and the team is winning, they should continue to play. As simple as that.”

If someone is not performing well, they should be dropped: Harbhajan Singh

The legendary spinner Harbhajan Singh said that the Indian team would really need Kohli and Rohit to play red-ball cricket a little bit more than what people think. He added that India needs experience in all formats to nurture the talent that is coming up. However, Harbhajan strongly believes that the underperforming players should be dropped from the team, whether it be Virat or Rohit.

He further explained, “Selectors need to see that if someone is not performing well, they should be dropped. Whether they are senior players or juniors. But as long as everyone is fit, they should be able to get selected in the team. And if they are not contributing in any manner, whether it's fitness or number of runs, then the time has come. They should be making way for the youngsters.”

In the end, Harbhajan stressed that the young players are much more hungry than the senior players, saying when a player plays for 15 years, his hunger comes down a little bit, so it would always be great to give opportunity to the young guns when seniors struggle.
