Mumbai cricketer Suryakumar Yadav finally got the reward for his unrelenting hard work, patience, grit, and consistent performances in the domestic circuit and in the IPL after he earned a maiden call-up to the Indian T20I team for the upcoming series against England.

Suryakumar Yadav has been one of the bedrock of the Mumbai Indians batting-unit. The dynamic batsman has been at the peak of his powers in the past two seasons, finishing as the highest run-getter among uncapped players.

In the last season, especially, Yadav dished out consistent performances for the Mumbai Indians and so when the T20I squad for the Australian tour was announced, his snub was met with stringent criticism.

Even Suryakumar Yadav had made it clear in the media that he was disappointed at being overlooked once again.

“I was disappointed when the Indian team for the Australian tour was announced because I was expecting to be picked as I was batting well and scoring runs. I have been scoring a lot of runs in white-ball cricket over the last 2 years, not just in the IPL alone. I was expecting to get that call. When I didn’t get the call I was a little disappointed but the show must go on so I tried not to think too much about it,” Suryakumar Yadav has said after being overlooked for the Australian tour.

But, as they say, hard work and patience eventually pay off. Suryakumar Yadav has been picked in the 19-men squad for the five-match T20I series against England and following his selection, a plethora of Indian cricketers took to Twitter to congratulate the 30-year-old.
