After seeing his side claim yet another victory in Indian Premier League 2024, Harbhajan Singh claimed that Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson should be included in the ICC T20 World Cup this June.

Not only that, Bhajji, who is doing Hindi commentary with Star Sports for this season's IPL, feels that Samson should also be looked at as the successor to Rohit Sharma in the Indian team's captaincy role.

Last night in front of home support at the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur, Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals extended their lead atop of IPL table by grabbing their 7th victory of the season.

The Royals defeated Hardik Pandya's Mumbai Indians, whose prospects of reaching the play-offs are looking quite bleak now after losing their 5th from 8 matches. The Samson-led Rajasthani team won the contest in a rather one-sided manner, by 9 wickets and 8 balls in hand.

What did Harbhajan Singh say about Sanju Samson?

Harbhajan Singh was observing all the proceedings closely in Jaipur from the commentary box as he saw Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal steal the show and seal the winning runs.

Immediately after the match concluded, Bhajji took to X (formerly Twitter) and made a huge claim about the RR captain.

The former right-arm off-spinner had words of praise for both Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Bhajji started by first hailing Jaiswal's welcome-back century in the IPL this season, highlighting the fact that form is temporary but class is permanent.

Harbhajan then wrote highly about Samson and that there cannot be any debate or dispute regarding the latter's selection in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Harbhajan Singh wants to see Sanju Samon keep the wickets for India during the 20-team event in the USA and West Indies where India will look to end their ICC trophy drought.

Bhajji then made the big claim that Samson should also be looked at and groomed as the successor of Rohit Sharma for the captaincy role of the Men in Blue.

Sanju Samson - the player and the captain, has been nothing short of exceptional this season and thus Harbhajan asked if there are any doubts regarding the Kerala man's chances.

“Yashasvi Jaiswal’s knock is a proof of class is permanent. Form is temporary @ybj_19 and there shouldn’t be any debate about Keeper batsman. @IamSanjuSamson should walk into the Indian team for the T20 World Cup and also be groomed as the next T20 captain for India after Rohit. koi shak???" - Harbhajan Singh wrote on X.

Yashasvi Jaiswal's century steals the show

Meanwhile, Sanju Samson does deserve a lot of credit for the way he has managed the Rajasthan Royals this season but last night, it was Yashasvi Jaiswal who stole the show. The 22-year-old smacked his 2nd century of IPL career as he remained not out 104 off 60 at a strike rate of 173.

His knock included 7 sixes and 9 fours and it served as a complimentary thing to RR pacer Sandeep Sharma's man of the match-winning 5-wicket haul.
