Hardik Pandya Talks About The Relevance Of Mental Health In International Cricket

Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya have undergone a significant upheaval as they suffered a personal loss following the death of their father. Despite that, Hardik and Krunal have performed incredibly well for India in recent times, making match-winning contributions. Hardik Pandya revealed that he understood mental health’s relevance while playing international cricket.
Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya joined the Mumbai Indians’ bubble immediately after completing their international commitments. The Baroda cricketers have played an integral role in Mumbai Indians’ dominance across facets and have been part of the franchise’s four-title victories. The two are arguably certain starters in the season opener against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on the 9th of April in Chennai.
Hardik Pandya conceded that the kind of pressure that comes while playing international cricket is massive and life changes; however, he believes that players need to cope with things. He credited his family for standing beside him and ensuring he remains in the right place.
“When I play international cricket, mentally I realized, because the kind of pressure that came into your life. Obviously, life changes for us, but as an individual, you need to cope with all the things. So for me, I realized that mental health is also important, where my family played a big role to make sure that I am in the right place,” Pandya said as quoted by Times of India.

The 27-year old stated that ahead of IPL 2021, they are doing tiny activities to maintain their fitness. Pandya feels that the small tasks are integral to maintaining one’s fitness and one needs to work hard enough to be satisfied so they can sleep for adequate hours at night.
“Just making sure that in the day, we are doing some activity which is adding to your fitness, that’s very important. And if you look after small things, it’s going to be grateful that it is going to look after your body. When we work hard, we work hard for that inner happiness, that inner peace where you can sleep for eight hours, you can laugh for 4-5 hours,” he added.
