The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has filed an official complaint against Pakistan duo Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan for their provocative actions during the India vs Pakistan Super 4s match in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025.

India and Pakistan faced each other for the second time in the tournament on last Sunday (September 21). Unlike the first match, where India thoroughly dominated Pakistan, the latter did well with the bat in the second match. However, it was not enough for Pakistan to win the match.

Aided by India's horrendous fielding throughout the match, the Men in Green managed to post a challenging total of 171/5 in the allotted 20 overs. Sahibzada Farhan, who was dropped in the very first over, top-scored for his side, scoring 58 runs.

In reply, India chased down the total inside 19 overs with opener Abhishek Sharma leading the charge with the bat. The southpaw smashed 74 runs off just 39 balls while also sharing a 105-run stand with opening partner Shubman Gill, who scored 47. Tilak Varma's unbeaten 30 then helped India cross the finishing line with ease.

BCCI lodges complaint against Haris Rauf, Sahibzada Farhan:

The second match between India and Pakistan also saw a number of incidents that marred the contest. Both Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan grabbed the spotlight for their objectionable actions during the match. Those actions have not gone down well with the BCCI as the board sent a complaint on Wednesday (September 24) and the ICC has acknowledged the receipt of the mail.

The complaint is regarding Sahibzada’s 'gun celebration' after he completed his fifty. Immediately after completing his fifty, Farhan raised his bat like a gun, holding it across his body as if aiming or firing a shot.

"That celebration was just a spur of the moment. I rarely celebrate when I get to fifty. But when I got there I suddenly got the idea of celebrating, and so I did without knowing or caring how people would interpret it. We should play aggressive cricket against any team, not just India, the way we played today," Farhan had said after the match.

Pakistan players bringing disgrace

On the other hand, Haris Rauf was rattled as the Indian fans chanted 'Kohli, Kohli' and responded by making 'downing of a plane' gestures with his hand to mock India’s military action earlier this year. Haris Rauf was taken to the cleaners by Kohli during the 2022 T20 World Cup that helped India snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat.

Rauf was also involved in a number of altercations with the Indian players as he struggled to keep his emotions under control. The right-arm pacer clashed with India openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill.

If both Farhan and Haris Rauf deny the charges in writing, an official hearing will be conducted. The duo may have to appear before ICC Elite Panel Referee Richie Richardson. If they fail to justify their actions, they could face sanctions as per the code of conduct.
