Jasprit Bumrah has yet again done the job for Team India, as he produced the Player of the Match show to guide his team to a thrilling six-run win over Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 league game at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Sunday, June 9.
The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium was packed with Indian fans, and they were hoping the Indian cricket team batter would go all gun blazing, but thanks to the pitch conditions, apart from Rishabh Pant, the entire batting line-up just flopped against the Men in Green.
Pant (42) and Axar Patel (20) saved India's honor by helping the Men in Blue post a respectable total of 119 on the board against the Pakistan cricket team. Unfortunately, it was the first time Pakistan managed to all out India in any World Cup game.
Jasprit Bumrah's match-winning spell helps India edge past Pakistan in New York thriller
Naseen Shah (3/21), Haris Rauf (3/21) and Mohammad Amir (2/23) have given the Indians headaches throughout the first innings by wreaking havoc on India’s batting line-up with their sheer pace and consistent length at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.
Defending the modest total, the Indian cricket team found it tough to break the partnership between Pakistan captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, but Bumrah managed to bring smiles on the faces of 150 crore Indians by taking the first wicket for the team in the fifth over.
During the IND vs PAK clash, whenever the Men in Blue needed a breakthrough, Bumrah took the responsibility and not only controlled the flow of the runs but also took the important wickets against Pakistan.
In his match-winning spell, Bumrah scalped the key wickets of Babar, Rizwan, and Fakhar Zaman to help India extend their winning streak against their arch rivals by proving all the predictions wrong.
The Indian speedster finished with amazing figures of 3/14 in his 4 overs to help India restrict Pakistan to 113/7 to win the last over thriller by 6 runs against the Men in Green in New York.
You will not find a match-winner like Jasprit Bumrah: Mohammad Kaif
After his another impactful performance, former Indian batter and commentator Mohammad Kaif showered rich praise on Bumrah for helping the team avoid an embarrassing defeat against Pakistan.
Kaif said in a video posted on his X handle: “In the mid-show, it was said that this match was 50-50. We had an amazing bowling attack. We had a world-class bowler in Bumrah. So, India never lost the match. 119 runs are very few, and out-batting was a big flop. But Bumrah said, brother, I am there. If you look at the 19th over, people always hit Yorker on Yorker. The mistake that Haris Rauf made was against the USA in the 20th over.
He hit all the balls on Yorker. Batters get to know what the bowler's plan is. So, there was a four, and Pakistan lost the match there. Bumrah doesn't do this. Bumrah's plan is different. Bumrah says I will not put back-to-back bowls continuously. He used the slower in the 19th over. He hit a cutter. Then he put a length ball in the middle, and then he put a Yorker. So, he plays in that zone. If you look at his pitch map, he doesn’t put the ball in one place continuously.
So, you will not find a bowler like Bumrah in the world. There are many bowlers in the world, but they cannot match Bumrah. You will not find a match-winner like Bumrah. There is no other B. He played two matches and won POTM. Last time, he was not in the World Cup. In 2022, we missed him. He came here and waved India's flag high. He beat Pakistan in the land of America. So, this is very good bowling. Well done, Bumrah."
