PC: X

Legendary Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle has revealed his latest conversation with Indian legend Virat Kohli, who has confirmed that, despite speculations, he will continue playing only the ODI format, hence closing the doors on a Test comeback.

Recently, Virat Kohli has made his return to the One-day format and has looked like he had never been absent from the game. Kohli scored a match-winning half-century in the Sydney game of the Australia tour and then put on a show in the very next game in Ranchi.

Virat Kohli was named the Player of the Match for having scored 135 runs in the innings with 11 fours and 7 sixes in his innings. This marked Kohli's 52nd ODI century and 44th POTM award.

Harsha Bhogle reveals chats with Virat Kohli on Test comeback

During the post-match conference, when Kohli took his POTM award, he was seen speaking with Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle, who almost caught him off guard with a straightforward question, for which Kohli didn't seem prepared.

Harsha asked him about his rumoured return to Test cricket; however, Kohli rejected any such speculation as true and assured that he intends to play only ODI cricket. Some people over at X felt that Bhogle had caught the cricketer off guard with his questioning.

However, responding to claims, Bhogle revealed that he had asked the veteran cricketer beforehand if he could bring that topic up. “I had asked him before if he would be comfortable if I slipped that in,” said Bhogle while replying to a fan query.

“Yes, and that’s how it’s always going to be. I’m just playing one form of the game,” said Kohli when asked whether he intended to continue exclusively in ODIs.

Virat Kohli claimed that all his preparation is mental

During the same post-match conference, Virat Kohli had claimed that after all the experience he has had playing cricket for years, he depends on mental preparation for going out and putting on a show out there.

He has also revealed that after some initial preparation, he had taken a day off before setting foot on matchday, as, according to him, he is 37 and has grown older, so his body needs some time to revive.

All of these claims also sum up to the fact that Virat Kohli is now looking forward to a stress-free life, and returning to the Test time under such dire situations would surely affect his mentality at this moment. He hence does not have the willingness to be back playing the red-ball format.

Virat Kohli scored the 7000th century of International cricket on his return to India

Very much unlike vintage Virat Kohli, his return to India was marked by a six-hitting spree. Kohli rocked back, skipped down the wicket, went inside out and pulled; he did it all to get the ball to go sailing over the fence 7 times in his innings.

Virat Kohli got to his half-century as well as a century with boundary strokes and put on some stunning partnerships alongside Rohit Sharma and then KL Rahul, later in the innings. He was part of a 136-run partnership with Rohit Sharma, who scored a half-century and broke the world record for centuries.

Virat's century in the Ranchi ODI marked the 7000th ODI century in the history of international cricket. Kohli celebrated the ton in his trademark fashion, leaping into the air and roaring like a lion.
