India pacer Kranti Gaud has landed in trouble after the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final against Sri Lanka in Dubai. On Monday, September 14, the International Cricket Council confirmed that Kranti Gaud has been fined 10 percent of her match fee for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct.
The ICC action came after the Indian pacer’s celebration following the dismissal of Sri Lanka opener Imesha Dulani. Pakistan has also faced a separate penalty for a slow over-rate in their semi-final against Sri Lanka at the recently concluded Women’s Asia Cup 2026. India pacer Kranti Gaud fined after Women’s Asia Cup 2026 Final incident
Kranti Gaud was fined 10 per cent of her match fee for breaching Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct. The rule covers gestures or actions after a batter’s dismissal that can be seen as insulting or capable of provoking an aggressive reaction.
The incident happened in the very first over of Sri Lanka’s innings. After dismissing Imesha Dulani, Gaud made a gesture towards the pavilion. She admitted the offense and accepted the punishment, so there was no need for a formal hearing.
One demerit point added to Kranti Gaud’s record
Along with the fine, Kranti Gaud has received one demerit point. It was her first offence under the ICC Code of Conduct in the last 24 months. Notably, Level 1 offences can lead to an official reprimand, a fine of up to 50 per cent of the match fee and one or two demerit points.
The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Saleema Imtiaz and Shathira Jakir Jesy, third umpire Rokeya Sultana and fourth umpire Humaira Farah. Supriya Rani Das of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction.
ICC confirms punishment
The ICC stated in an official release: “Kranti Gaud has been fined 10 per cent of her match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Women’s Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka in Dubai on Sunday.
Gaud was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage, or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an international match.
In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to the disciplinary record of Gaud, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period.” Amid this, Mithun Manhas, VVS Laxman hail India Women after record 8th Asia Cup title.
Pakistan punished for slow over-rate against Sri Lanka
Pakistan have also been fined five per cent of their match fee for a slow over-rate in their semi-final against Sri Lanka on Friday. They were found to be one over short of the required rate after time allowances were taken into account.
Under ICC rules, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their team falls short. Captain Fatima Sana accepted the offence and the proposed punishment, meaning no formal hearing was required. The charge was made by umpires Vrinda Rathi and Shathira Jakir Jesy, third umpire Rokeya Sultana and fourth umpire Rabab Ahsan.
