Renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle has joined the list of experts to pick India’s squad for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup. Even as the tournament moves to the UAE from India, the BCCI will serve as the hosts and the men in blue are one of the firm favourites to lift the title for the second time. Harsha Bogle has named his 15-member squad for the mega event.
Harsha Bhogle picked Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul as openers, followed by Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav to bat at number three and four, respectively. To bat at number five, the 60-year old wished for Shreyas Iyer; however, he could go with Ishan Kishan if the former would not be fit for the World Cup.
Harsha Bhogle commented that Shreyas Iyer’s numbers before he got injured were extraordinary and he gives the flexibility. Thus, Bhogle feels tempted to play the right-hander at number five. However, if Iyer fails to get enough match time, the commentator believes Ishan Kishan can make a difference.
“I don’t know how fit Shreyas Iyer is. I just looked at the numbers before he got injured, and he had very good runs top of the order. He had very good runs in the bottom, so I’ve got Iyer there, but if he doesn’t have enough match time behind him, then I will look at Ishan Kishan as the left-hander makes a huge difference,” Harsha told Cricbuzz.
Harsha Bhogle opted for Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya as the all-rounders and gave the keeping duties to Rishabh Pant. The Hyderabad-born lad named Deepak Chahar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Jasprit Bumrah in the pace-bowling unit. But Bhogle also believes there would be a toss-up between Mohammed Shami and T Natarajan. On the other hand, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar and Varun Chakravarthy would make up the spinning department.
