Veteran Indian cricket commentator and analyst Harsha Bhogle has taken a dig at Pakistan after their 'embarrassing' Test series defeat against Bangladesh at home.

Harsha Bhogle also pointed out the Pakistan national cricket team's ongoing struggles in the longer format of the game.

Bangladesh registered a historic 2-0 Test series whitewash against Pakistan in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, September 3.

The Bangladesh team stunned Pakistan with a ten-wicket victory in the first Test match. They continued their dominance with a six-wicket win in the second Test match.

Bangladesh had never won a Test match against Pakistan before this series. Pakistan had a 12-0 record against Bangladesh in the longer format.

The visiting team scripted a turnaround in Test cricket in the recent series. Pakistan's dismal performance has drawn criticism from cricket experts.

I Didn't Expect It To Be This Stark - Harsha Bhogle

Harsha Bhogle took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his disappointment with Pakistan's Test series defeat, describing it as "embarrassing."

Bhogle added that he had warned about Pakistan's struggles in Test cricket but didn't expect the situation to be this stark.

"I remember saying some time ago that the shorter the game, the more dangerous Pakistan would be, and, almost as consequence, that the longer the game, the more vulnerable they would be. But I didn't expect it to be this stark. Well as Bangladesh played, this is embarrassing for Pakistan," Bhogle wrote.

Pakistan was bowled out for 274 runs in the second Test after Day 1 was washed out. Bangladesh collapsed to 26/6 due to strong performances from Pakistan's bowlers.

Litton Das helped the team make a comeback, scoring 138 runs off 228 balls. Bangladesh conceded a 12-run lead to Pakistan.

Bangladesh then bowled out Pakistan for 172 in the second innings. For Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud took five wickets. Bangladesh successfully chased down the 185-run target with six wickets in hand.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten with 21 and 22 runs, respectively.

Bangladesh Have Had Quite A Few Moments - Harsha Bhogle

Harsha Bhogle described Bangladesh’s series win over Pakistan as the team's biggest Test series victory. He also highlighted Bangladesh’s past successes, including their 2007 World Cup win over India.

"In all fairness, Bangladesh have had quite a few moments to be proud of. None more so than beating India in the 2007 WC. How fitting then, that the two kids from that day, Shakib and Mushfiq, now in the middle as veterans, see their team through to their biggest test series win," Bhogle stated.

Bangladesh will next travel to India for the multi-format series. The series will start with the first Test match in Chennai on September 19.

Team India has won all five-Test series between the teams since 2000. Bangladesh last visited India for a Test series in 2019, where they lost by 2-0.
