Harshal Patel Reveals AB De Villiers's Advice To Him, Reckons The Latter Had A Massive Impact On His Career

Indian medium pacer Harshal Patel heaped praises on Ab De Villiers for having a great impact on his career and revealed that he has been following him in the IPL as well. AB De Villiers went on to make his retirement from all forms of cricket yesterday afternoon, and it was one of the saddest moments marking the end of an era.

De Villiers and Harshal Patel have shared the dressing room in the IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore for a long time. Harshal made his international debut yesterday, and he had an excellent outing proving to be the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets for just 25 runs.

“I Have Always Been A Silent Observer Of Him” – Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel, in the press conference, mentioned being a silent observer of Ab De Villiers and revealed the impact of the RCB star in his career. He reckoned that AB De Villiers had suggested him not to change his tactics even despite being hit for 30 runs in an over by Jadeja in IPL and noted it helped him a lot.

“AB has had a massive impact in my career. I have always been a silent observer of him,”

“Just before the UAE leg (of the IPL) I had asked him how I can reduce my big overs. I have conceded even 30 runs in an over in the IPL and I wanted to avoid that. He told me to not change my tactics when the batsman hits me on my good deliveries,’ Harshal said in a press conference after Saturday’s match.

You Have To Force The Batsman To Hit Your Good Deliveries – Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel mentioned that his plan was to keep bowling those good deliveries to make it hard for the batsman and noted that it is going to be his template throughout his career.

“You have to force the batsman to hit your good deliveries instead of changing it as soon as you get hit because that is something that the batsman expects. That is something that stayed with me throughout the UAE leg of IPL and it will stay with me throughout my career,” he added.

Harshal Patel doing well for India is going to be a big boost to the next T20 World cup 2021 for India.
