Former Indian cricketer and well-known commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu has made a shocking statement on Ishan Kishan’s strange dismissal during the IPL 2025 clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians on April 23 in Hyderabad.
Navjot Singh Sidhu has indirectly accused the on-field umpire of match-fixing during the Sunrisers Hyderabad versus Mumbai Indians clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. Ishan Kishan gifted his wicket to MI after just one run.
Ishan Kishan's bizarre dismissal in the SRH vs MI IPL 2025 clash sparks a strong reaction from Navjot Singh Sidhu
The drama unfolded on the very first ball of the third over during Sunrisers Hyderabad's innings. Facing Deepak Chahar, Ishan tried to flick a leg-side length delivery fine, but misjudged the line and failed to make clean contact. The ball brushed something on its way to the keeper.
But what was shocking was that Ishan walked off the field without waiting for the umpire’s call, sparking a mix of confusion and surprise across the ground. There was no appeal from Deepak Chahar, and neither the wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton appealed, but umpire Vinod Seshan lifted his finger only after a slight delay and a gesture from the Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya.
The visuals showed that even umpire Vinod Seshan looked confused. He first signaled it as a wide ball but quickly changed his mind and gave Ishan out after seeing the SRH batter walk off on his own. Later, replays showed no spike on Ultra Edge, which meant there was no contact with the bat. Ishan was later seen frustrated in the dressing room after watching the footage.

Navjot Singh Sidhu slams umpire after Ishan Kishan’s shocking walk-off
Now, reacting to the whole drama, Navjot Singh Sidhu has shared the footage on his social media handle X and taken a dig in his trademark style at how Ishan walked into trouble without even being pushed. Sidhu slammed the on-field umpire for his rare yet bizarre decision without a single appeal from the fielding side, the Mumbai Indians, against the SRH batter Ishan.
Navjot Singh Sidhu wrote, X: “Buying trouble is as easy as pie, but the carrying charges run pretty high … Have you ever seen an umpire rule someone out without an appeal?”

Virender Sehwag blasts Ishan Kishan for 'Brain Fade' walk-off in IPL 2025
On the other hand, Virender Sehwag slammed Ishan Kishan’s strange decision to walk off. Sehwag lashed out at the Indian wicketkeeper-batter for acting too quickly, calling it a complete brain-fade moment. The cricket expert said that Ishan Kishan wasn’t there to do the umpire’s job.
Sehwag noted that if Ishan Kishan had waited, the MI would have taken the review, and it would’ve cleared him. Ishan’s dismissal added to his struggles in the ongoing IPL 2025. After starting the season with a brilliant century against the Rajasthan Royals, the left-handed batter has managed only 33 runs in his next seven innings at an average of just 5.5.
Notably, Mumbai Indians jumped to the third spot with a seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last IPL 2025 clash. It was MI’s fourth consecutive victory, while SRH remained at the ninth spot with only two wins from their eight games so far in the tournament.
