Rishabh Pant has the talent to attract global fans, and now the legendary Australian wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist has come forward with words of praise for the Indian wicketkeeper-batter.

Pant has often drawn comparisons to the Australian great because his playing style is quite similar to Gilchrist's brand of aggressive playing in Test cricket. But according to Gilchrist, Pant takes aggressive batting to a whole new level.

Notably, Rishabh Pant has recently made a comeback to Test cricket after a long time and yet again made one and all of his fans with his remarkable performance in the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai.

Rishabh Pant's fearless batting receives high praise from Adam Gilchrist

Rishabh Pant stabilized the Indian cricket team’s innings after early setbacks by scoring 39 off 52 balls in the first inning at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The same situation emerged in the second inning, and the left-hander yet again proved his worth by smashing a record century on Day 3.

It was not just a display of batting skill but responsibility under pressure and grit, which was admired by no one else than Gilchrist. The former Australia wicketkeeper has emphasized that Pant's fearless nature sets him apart from others, saying the Indian star attacks with even greater intensity than he did during his own illustrious career.

The cricket pundit further mentioned that how the 26-year-old manages to digest pressure yet entertain is perhaps the reason why he has become one of the best batters in Test cricket. He also described Rishabh Pant’s fearless batting as a 'class act’.

Moreover, Adam Gilchrist expressed his excitement at watching Rishabh Pant play, stressing that he would delightedly pay to see the left-hander in action. The legendary cricketer pointed out that Pant possesses a unique blend of talent, humor, and charisma, making him not just a formidable opponent but a true entertainer of the game.

Rishabh Pant attacks a bit more than I did: Adam Gilchrist

Adam Gilchrist was quoted as saying by Cricket.com: “I reckon he attacks a bit more than I did. I played an aggressive brand at that time, but Rishabh, he looks fearless. What I do like is that he occasionally puts a foot on the brake and absorbs a bit of pressure. So, he's a class act.”

Gilchrist further noted, “He is, what you say, bums on seats and people pay money well and truly. I would happily pay money to watch him play cricket. So that's a great quality to have, I think, if people are acknowledging in that manner because he gets the results, he's a winner and a survivor, as we know. He's all class in everything he does. He's good fun, he's got the humour. He knows how to go about a very serious business in a fun way.”

Notably, before wearing whites for India, Pant played one first-class game in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024, where he got back his old touch, and now he is on fire with the bat against Bangladesh.
