Indian wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha said that the entire dressing room was wondering if New Zealand spinner, Ajaz Patel, could actually achieve the unthinkable and one of the ‘toughest’ feats in world cricket.

Ajaz joined an elite club in the Mumbai Test when he took all ten wickets in India’s first innings. Only Jim Laker and Anil Kumble had managed to do it before in the history of Test cricket. Speaking about the moments that led up to the achievement in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, Saha said:

After he picked up the first six wickets, we were saying to each other, ‘He can’t do it, can he?’ We were also discussing this to be one of the toughest feats to achieve, but then the stars were aligned in favour of him that day.”

On being questioned whether Mohammed Siraj was asked to dodge becoming Ajaz’s 10th victim, Saha added: “Everyone knew the situation, so nobody was told anything in particular. At the end of the day, everyone has their own head and view to read a situation.

It was crucial for him personally also – Wriddhiman Saha on Mayank Agarwal’s century

Wriddhiman Saha went on to reveal the relief and happiness that Mayank Agarwal felt after reaching a well-deserved century in the first innings of the Mumbai Test. Mayank carried on his form and scored a 62 in the second innings as well.

In addition to being an important knock for the team, it was crucial for him personally also. In the last few games, Mayank couldn’t deliver how much the team asked of him. That’s why that hundred was important for him and this is exactly what we were discussing when he reached the milestone,” Mayank mentioned.

India managed to win the Mumbai Test by 372 runs to record their biggest-ever victory in terms of runs and also claim the series 1-0.
