Predicting a bright future for Arshdeep Singh, former Pakistan bowler Wasim Akram has revealed what the India pacer needs to do to become a better bowler.

Arshdeep Singh has not looked back since making his debut for India last year. He hit the ground running in international cricket and went on to play the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup last year. The left-arm pacer has been really impressive with his bowling so far. He has caught everyone’s attention with his swing and death bowling.

And it is absolutely not surprising that Wasim Akram has been impressed by the pacer too. Arguably the finest left-arm pacer to have played the game, the legendary cricketer believes Arshdeep Singh is a superstar in the making for India. The Indian team was in search for a quality left-arm pacer ever since Zaheer Khan retired and many believe that Arshdeep Singh has the potential to end the search.

“I saw him. He has a future. I said it during last year’s Asia Cup as well that he should play long. He has the swing but pace-wise, he needs to play more First-Class cricket to increase his speed. He is young and I like the way he bowls. He is a wicket-taker. The more he plays, the muscles will grow and he will be able to generate more pace,” Akram said on Radio Haanji.

Arshdeep Singh’s career so far:

Arshdeep Singh has played 26 T20Is so far and has picked up 41 wickets with a best of 4/37. He is a part of India’s T20I squad for the five-match series against West Indies that gets underway on Thursday (August 3). The pacer will have a chance to further enhance his reputation in the shortest format of the game.

He recently impressed in the county circuit too while playing for Kent. In five games, Arshdeep scalped 13 wickets for the English outfit.
