Former India opener, Aakash Chopra believes that wrist-spinner Ravi Bishnoi has virtually confirmed his berth in India’s squad for next year’s ICC T20 World Cup. Ravi Bishnoi was the highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded five-match T20I series between India and Australia taking nine wickets in the series. The wrist-spinner has picked up 34 wickets at a decent economy rate of 7.14 in 21 T20Is.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra talked about his confidence in Ravi Bishnoi’s name featuring in India’s T20 World Cup squad, to which he responded, “I personally feel it’s almost a done deal. I feel his name will be there because of the way he is bowling and the number of wickets he is picking. He is consistent. He is a wicket-taker and bowls with the new ball.”
Aakash Chopra feels that a decent run for Ravi Bishnoi in the IPL 2024 will confirm his place in the Indian squad which will take part in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He said, “The matches will be in America and the West Indies. Slightly quick in the air on slow pitches – I think he will bring value. The kid fields well and he is very accurate as a wrist-spinner. I feel if he keeps bowling like this and has a decent IPL, he is a done deal.”

Yuzvendra Chahal Or Ravi Bishnoi? Who Will Be The Better Option

Ravi Bishnoi will compete with the likes of  Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal for the wrist-spinner position. Yuzvendra Chahal has been ignored for the T20I series against South Africa while Bishnoi and Kuldeep will feature in the squad. However, Chahal has got a chance in the ODI team which will face South Africa in a bilateral series.
Yuzvendra Chahal could not find a spot in the Indian squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 where the management went with Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin as the spin options and Ravindra Jadeja was also there. He found a place in the squad for the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup but he did not get enough opportunities in that tournament.
In 2023, Yuzvendra Chahal managed to take only nine wickets in nine matches. In comparison, Ravi Bishnoi has taken 18 wickets in 11 games with nine scalps coming in the recently concluded IND vs AUS T20I series.
