Rajasthan Royals Chief Executive Officer Jake Lush McCrum has come out in support of England all-rounder Ben Stokes for the latter’s decision to spend time away from the game.

The Cricket fraternity, on Friday, came in for a shock when the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) revealed in a press release that Ben Stokes has decided to take a break from the game for an indefinite period of time in order to adhere to his mental health.

As a result, Ben Stokes will not be available for the upcoming five-match Test series against India which starts in Nottingham from August 04.

Stokes’ decision to take a break from the game in order to focus on his mental health has once again brought into the spotlight the need for elite athletes to open up about their mental health.

Playing at the highest level amid intense pressure and a relentless schedule can take a toll on any athlete and we have seen enough examples across various sports in the past where spokespersons have stepped aside from the game.

As if this wasn’t enough, playing under a strict bio-secure bubble during the Covid era had exacerbated the matters even more.

The Cricket fraternity has come out in full support of Ben Stokes and the latest to join the bandwagon is Rajasthan Royals CEO, who took to his Twitter account where he wrote-

“At the Royals and beyond we are all fully behind Ben and will support him in any way possible. He should take as long as he needs and thankfully has an amazing family and support system with him,” he wrote.
