England Women’s Cricket Team would be quite happy as now Heather Knight is fit and ready for West Indies. The West Indies tour is all set to commence on 4th December where the team is going to play 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is which promises to be an exciting contest.
Heather Knight injured her hip in the 1st T20I match against South Africa in July. Due to the injury, she missed the crucial Commonwealth Games, India Series, Hundred, and the ongoing WBBL. She went through a rehabilitation program and now is all set to take part against West Indies.
Heather Knight on Comeback
Heather Knight was having an interaction with ESPNcricinfo and was asked about her injury. “It feels like it’s been a long old rehab but I’ve just come good the last couple of weeks and am getting back to pretty much full training now. Fielding has probably been the one thing that’s been a little bit niggly and a little bit of pain, but I’ve had a really good couple of days so I’m fit to go to the West Indies, which is great.” said Heather Knight.
“It’s just the last couple of weeks, certain positions that the hip didn’t really like, but the last few days it’s been good as gold so I’m ready to get back and play. It’s actually a much healthier, better hip joint than it was. It hadn’t been an issue that was on the radar, but I played in one of those T20s against South Africa and it flared up really badly and I knew it was something new that was not good.” she added.
Crucial Tour for England
The ODI Series is going to be a part of the ODI Championship which would be vital for both the sides. The conditions for England would be a quite alien as getting acclimatizing to the conditions would be the key.
England had lost the ODI Series against India by 2-1 when the Mankading incident happened. England would be hoping that they can turn around things quickly. Skipper Heather Knight has a strenuous task as making a comeback after an injury is never easy.
