The South Africa National Cricket Team cricketers David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen have been one of the most feared names in T20 Cricket. They are the most destructive batters in the shorter format of the game. The two are set to make their debut in the forthcoming ILT20. This is a great opportunity for the league as well to have players of their stature.
Miller continues to play in the Proteas team; however, his former teammate Heinrich Klaasen retired from international cricket last year and continues to play franchise cricket. Both the Proteas cricketers have been dominating in franchise leagues across the world. Heinrich Klaasen was excellent for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) earlier this year as he controlled their middle order and played some amazing knocks.
David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen join Gulf Giants
David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen have been signed by Gulf Giants for the upcoming ILT20 League. This is a big boost for the franchise given their reputation for playing the shorter format of the game. The South African duo is a pre-auction signing for the franchise. They will look to add more firepower to the squad ahead of the season.
Gulf Giants are the inaugural edition champions of the ILT20 after they defeated Desert Vipers by 7 wickets in the final at the Dubai International Stadium. It is a franchise owned by the Adani Group, which also owns Gujarat Giants in the PKL and Gujarat Giants in the WPL. Azmatullah Omarzai and Blessing Muzarabani (both retained) by the Giants.
Finn Allen set to make debut for ADKR
Apart from Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener Finn Allen has joined their sister franchise Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ADKR) for the upcoming season of the ILT20. Allen is also making his debut for the franchise and in the league as well. He was an integral part of the KKR setup during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
Alongside Allen, ADKR locked in retentions and signings including Sunil Narine and Jason Holder, plus young talent Matthew Tromp. They are yet to win a trophy, as they were knocked out in the semi-final last year. The Knights will look to win it this time under the leadership of Jason Holder. So far, they have had two playoff qualifications in four editions.
Marcus Stoinis returns in ILT20
Marcus Stoinis also makes a comeback to the tournament after three years. The Australia National Cricket Team all-rounder has been signed by Dubai Capitals. He will look to create an impression for the franchise.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who played for Capitals in the previous season, will now represent reigning champions Desert Vipers. Shimron Hetmyer, Andries Gous, and Dan Lawrence have all remained with the Vipers. Noor Ahmad, who formerly played with the Vipers, has switched teams and joined the Capitals for the 2026 season.
Last year's finalists, MI Emirates, also retained three players in terms of Nicholas Pooran, Rashid Khan and Romario Shepherd and signed Sherfane Rutherford. Sharjah Warriorz just retained one player, Zimbabwe National Cricket Team's Sikandar Raza. They recruited Adam Milne, James Vince and Waqar Salamkheil to complete their pre-auction signings.
